Dog Disease - Blastomycosis in Dogs

Blastomycosis is a fungal infection which is caused by the organism “Blastomyces dermatitidis.” This dog disease is more common in North America. It is also known as “Gilchrist's disease”, “North American blastomycosis” and “Blastomycetic dermatitis”.

Causes for Blastomycosis
Blasto fungus may be inhaled by the dogs from its natural soil habitat or from the air in which these spores may be present as a result of released air by local wildlife. Once inhaled in the lungs, these spores multiply and pass through the blood and other lymphatics to other organs, including brain, skin, bone and genitourinary tract.

Symptoms of This Dog Disease
The symptoms and signs of blastomycosis include:
  • Fever
  • Anorexia
  • Cough
  • Sudden blindness
  • Blood in urine
  • Fatigue
  • Skin lesions (may be filled with pus)
  • Breathing problems
  • Eye discharge and eye inflammations
  • Loss of weight
  • Chest pain
  • Bone or joint pains
Treatment for Blastomycosis
Treatment for this dog disease is generally done at home, using oral dosages of anti fungal medication such as Sporanox and Diflucan. The medicine is expensive and must be given to the dog for a long period of time (a minimum of 60 days or one month after all signs of blastomycosis have disappeared). Dogs with severe breathing difficulties may require an oxygen supplement until lung conditions have improved. However, when the dog disease is not cured with these medications, then surgery may be necessary in order to remove part of   an abscessed lobe in damaged lungs. Even though, the dogs may be back on their feet with this treatment, this will not undo any long term effects which include spinal, blindness or bone damage.

Dog Disease - Pythiosis

Pythiosis is a very destructive disease which may affect animals such as dogs, cats, horses as well as human beings. This dog disease is caused by water mold called ‘Pythium insidiosum’. When dogs are infected with this specific dog disease their lymph nodes and gastrointestinal system may be affected. Puppies from large breeds are more prone to this dog disease.

Causes for Pythiosis
Pythium insidiosum lives in marshes, slimes and other forms of standing water. It is transmitted to dogs when they drink this water. This may also infect the dogs through their wounds.

Symptoms of Pythiosis
The symptoms of this dog disease are related to the stomach, such as:
•    Vomiting
•    Diarrhea
•    Weight loss
•    Noticeable mass in the abdomen
•    Blood in the stool
Furthermore a dog may become weak and depressed if it becomes a victim of Pythiosis. If the skin of the dog is infected then it may cause ulcerated lumps. Pythiosis can also affect the lungs and bones of the dogs. Both the skin disease and lung and bones damage in dogs by Pythiosis is very rare.

Treatment for Pythiosis
Pythium infections are normally not cured by antibiotic or anti fungal treatment. The normal treatment for this dog disease involves surgery. The surgery is not only complicated and lengthy but the overall success rate of this is only 20-25%. Surgery has to be accompanied with anti fungal drugs such as Terbinafine hydrochloride and Itraconazole for a period of 2-3 months.

Dog Disease - Histoplasmosis

Histoplasmosis is a fungal dog disease caused by the fungus “Histoplasma capsulatum”. This dog disease is also known as “Darling’s disease”, “Cave’s Disease” etc. This dog disease is non-contagious and is easily treated. Even though it is found in dogs worldwide, it is more common in certain areas of US which include Mississippi Valley, Appalachian Mountains, Ohio and Texas etc. Histoplasmosis in dogs primarily affects the lungs. In certain cases other organs are also affected and when this happens then it is called “disseminated histoplasmosis”. The disease may be fatal if untreated.

Causes for Histoplasmosis in Dogs:
This dog disease is caused by the fungus mentioned above which is found in nitrogen rich soil. Dogs catch this disease from inhalation of the spores found in contaminated areas. These particles are very small and can easily reach the lungs.

Symptoms of this dog disease include:
  • Acute weight loss
  • Depression
  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Anorexia
  • Anemia
  • Pale gums
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Enlarged liver, spleen and lymph nodes
  • Lameness
  • Skin disease
  • Diarrhea (the most common sign in dogs)
  • Eye disease
Treatment for Histoplasmosis in Dogs:
In simple cases of histoplasmosis, animal may clear the infection on its own and therefore treatment may not be required. However, the infection can spread and become more severe. In order to avoid this from happening treatment is often prescribed as soon as the diagnosis has been made. The treatment for this dog disease includes prescribing anti-fungal medications such as itraconazole, fluconazole or Ketoconazole etc. This treatment may prove to be costly as it takes a lot of time to completely cure a dog of the infection. The dog may require additional feeding or IV fluids in severe cases. If other organs have been damaged, then the dog may require medication to treat the secondary complications. The pet owner must refer to a vet as this is not a disease which may be cured with home remedies as the vet needs to monitor the treatment in order to avoid it from becoming more toxic. Treating histoplasmosis is successful if the correct treatment is used and instituted before the animal becomes too weak.

  • coughing
  • discharge from the eyes and/or nose
  • vomiting
  • inflammation of the eye
  • diarrhea
  • neurological symptoms (e.g., in-coordination, depression, paralysis, etc.)
Treatment for Ehrlichiosis in Dogs:
This dog disease is treated with antibiotics, mainly doxycycline. There is a rapid improvement in the symptoms due to this antibiotics but it may take several weeks for a full recovery.  IV fluids are required to be given to dehydrated animals and in severe cases steroids are required to be given when the level of platelets is very low and ends up to be life threatening. In severe cases, blood transfusions may also be necessary.

2. Fighting possible complications

Most common method used while treating the dog suffering from this dog disease is to use antibiotics such as pencillin, doxycycline, amoxicillin etc. However, if the disease is diagnosed at a later stage then dogs may have to be detoxified. Moreover, they need to undergo treatments in order to normalize the hydro-electrolytic balance. For this purpose the vet may give the dog solutions containing salt and glucose and in sever cases dialysis is used. Organ specific treatment are essential in cases of heart, liver or renal damage. It is very important to prevent further transmission of disease by adopting preventive measures.

Benefits of Dog Training

Being a new dog owner it is essential to have knowledge about the pet you are buying. Most of them who buy a pup are not well versed about the breed that they opt to purchase. This hasty decision of theirs makes them face a lot of troubles while training a dog. Every living thing has a certain way to be brought up and if it is not brought up in that way it will definitely give trouble. Be it human or animal they need to be given the proper training. The qualities that a dog should have are he should know how to behave among strangers and other animals, mannerism to eat food and above all listen to its master’s orders.

Since old ages dog training schools are formed they have shown great progress in a number years when it comes to training dogs. They actually know the correct way to train the dogs and use gaining remedies which happens to be useful for them. One good thing about dog schools are they train dogs in workshops and while playing games so that the dogs do not feel being trained. The feeling of being trained kills a dog within, he should be left free as much as possible. A dog should feel as if he is just left free and on the contrary they know that he is learning. If you are a new dog owner and have purchased an adult dog then sending your dog to a training school would be just the right idea because having an adult can be harmful if not trained well. You need to know all the tactics to handle a certain breed and if not then let the trainer take the driving seat.

These training schools not only train the dogs but also they help the dog owners to learn the psychology of the dogs. This is a very important thing to do, learning the psychology. If you know how you’re dog would react and what would be signs of his aggressive moods it would be easy for you to judge as how your dog would react and what would be his tendency to be aggressive. This all can only be learnt in a dog training school.

The following are the benefits that you would get if you send your dog to a training school.

INFORMATION AND SOCIALIZATION:
You would gain a lot of information just by taking your dog regularly to a training school. After you start going with your dog you would watch how they do trainers train the dog and what exercises do they make them do. Just by reading dog books or watching videos you would never be able to loran what’s the process like. It only comes by practice. This practice of watching would soon end up doing things and exercises yourself that the trainer does so that you’re dog may get use to you. A training school also helps you’re dog to live in an environment with other breeds so that he may not react if he’s left with another breed at home. In simple words he would learn the art of socialization too.

SECURITY:
If you are a new dog owner you would have no idea how to train a dog and if you have purchased an adult dog it can be harmful to you. There have been cases when new dog owners have been injured due to lack of knowledge. This lack of knowledge can even cost you life, it would be better at initial stages you would simply walk up to renowned trainer who would be registered with kennel club. Ask the trainer for some tips and make sure you send your dog to training schools.

TIME MANAGEMENT:
At times dog owners do not have much time to take care of their dog so they leave them at a training center where the dog’s time wouldn’t be wasted and they would learn something too. Mostly what occurs with the working slot people is that due their busy schedule they end up leaving the dogs at home. This brings a sense of humiliation to the dog and he starts feeling left out and starts sulking. At later stages this can make the dog very aggressive and irrational too.

EDUCATING DOG:
The most important function and benefit of this training process is that your dog is being trained. If you view that in totality you will notice your dog will know start behaving well, be aware of strangers, playful with kids and above all he is going to be very hard working. These qualities of a dog make a dog complete. A trained dog is the best companion that man can ever have.  As I always it is not the dog it is the way you train it.

The entire conclusion to this matter can be that if you are a good dog owner you would think about your dog’s health first and then about yourself.  You need to be well versed about the dog’s habit and know all his good and bad sides. At the same time you should even be friendly or learn how to be casual with him. A dog can be good or bad both it only depends on the way you train it. So if you are a new dog owner then it is better for you to send your dog to a dog training center so that he can be well trained. It seems like a dream coming true when your dog is trained because people do find innumerable fixes which at times gets difficult for them to comprehend. In the end we land up saying this dog is not a good breed or is mad!

So Now the ball is in your court. It depends on you if you want to send your dog to a training school or not. The choice is yours and the outcome too, a well trained dog or an irrational breed?

Dog Disease - Symptoms of Dog Pregnancy

The good news arrives at your home this summer. But the question comes is your dog pregnant? Because if she is then it is good but to detect it at earlier stages is better. Normally their appetite goes down and they would not have food at all. Their ignorance to food is something that you should notice so that you should taking precautionary measures. They also at times at the initial stages when they mate with other dogs know this habit is just like humans. Women also feel nauseate tic and feel low if had an intimacy done some days back.  But it is not something to worry about it will start eating back once it is out of its lazy phase.

There are some symptoms that normally dogs have I would like to discuss that with you so that it may become easy for you to tackle the situation.

DIZZINESS AND LETHARGIC:
You will notice that your dog will be felling very lethargic in the initial stages. The dog will stop moving around a lot and would not be so helpful. Know even when a child or a new born baby stops showing progress he is taken by his parents to the doctor. We being as dog owners are completely responsible for the dog’s health. The dog should be taken to a vet as soon as possible if no gradual change is seen in him for a very long time. They would start feeling dizzy which is another symptom of the dog being pregnant. Feeling dizzy is due to the pregnancy process that starts taking place in the dogs and they do not know how to react with it.

PHYSICAL CHANGES:
There are some gradual changes that take place in the dog’s body. This change is due to the pregnancy process which is taking place in the dog’s body. Know the most noticeable change that is noticed is that the dog gains weight and its nipples become big. It gains weight due to the baby’s weight being added to its body and the nipples get big because the body is being prepared for the baby to be fed.  This change is also noticed in humans so for which you do not have to be very much confused and can comprehend easily.

CHANGES IN BEHAVIOUR:
Female dogs mostly go at extremes. Either they can be really affectionate or they can be very irrational, depends on their moods. Dogs do have mood swings when they are pregnant. At times they can be very emotional and loving. They would just keep on licking you and would love to be admired by you. On the other hand they get irrational due to the harmonic changes that take place in their bodies they get confused. They end up not comprehending it so they just start acting irrational at times so that they can just let the frustration out. This situation has to be dealt as they are on a sensitive stage.

FLAIR OF EATING AND BUMP IN THE BELLY:
There is certain flair of eating that your dog would be facing during the initial stages of its pregnancy. But then later it will catch up with the diet and this is on the very important symptoms. Another symptom is it gets a bump in its belly. This bump is due to its pregnancy, you can also feel the bump in its belly to have a confirmation whether the dog is pregnant or not. After a few weeks you would feel some movement in the abdomen it’s know a womb and the movement is of the baby. Even if you notice it at this time start taking good care of your dog as this a very sensitive stage.

MILK DISCHARGES AND FRACTIONAL TEMPRATURE:
Once you notice the nipples getting bigger in size you will also notice that the dog will have discharge of milk. This is a sign that the dog is about to give birth, another symptom is that their temperature rises and falls down fractionally. It can either be high or low too. Normally it stays at 99farhenite but still you never know what may be coming to your dog.

All the above heads are the measures through which you can get to know if your dig is pregnant or not. But something that is very important, do not allow the dog to re-produce before a year. It is not advisable by the kennel board too. So welcome the new member to your family and be careful.

Anxiety in Dogs

This article is about the anxiety problems with the dogs. A fictitious story is attached with it and has no resemblance to any dog’s private personality. So today I would like to talk to you about Dog’s anxiety. This is something that many people do notice but due to their not happening behavior they do seem to go bonkers at time. This is a general phenomena  that takes place in every dog’s life, at times a dog even doesn’t know why is he reacting so bad at some circumstances.

In our observation we had a dog “Jack”. Jack being a trained dog at initial stages did not trouble dogs so much; in fact he was very helpful until the night that rained heavily. In our training center the dog owner “Jim” came up with a new psyche saying that his dog does rain dance. This even gave us jitters down our spine and we thought the dog had some specialty that needs to be explored. As it became a little dark we showered the dog just to see if he danced or not but he did not do it. Know this case became fishier for us than it smelt initially. So we kept jack with us till it actually rained. The night it rained it seemed as if the dog had some spirit in him. For a trainer saying that sounds funny but it did happen but we had captured the some moments before his dance started. On rewinding a couple of times we found out that the dog had actually sensed the rain coming. This is one of the hidden talents that a dog has and not only that but the dog danced like crazy and nothing seemed to stop him.

Here starts the actual of a dog trainer. We went hill high and valleys below but instead of studying dog psychology we had to study science fiction. After losing all hopes in the modern and ancient researches we went to the weather update guys and told him that are dog could sense when it rains or storms. Initially he was like “we want to hire your dog” but jokes a part some things are not just in the dog’s book and clubs. We were told that there is a static energy that comes with the air on the humidity changing that gives a current like feel to the dog’s which is the reason of the dog’s anxiety. This was not astonishing but also amazing that one gets to know how nature reacts with animals as well. A static energy being produced made him sensed the rain coming and on increase on rain affected the dog even more.

This maintained pressure acts on the sensory receptors that communicate with jack’s brain and his central nervous system. When wearing an Anxiety Wrap, the dog is protected from this static and it helps produce a calming of the dog's mind and body. I'm not sure exactly how this works from the dog's perspective but many people have had good success with this kind of product.

This wrap is now readily available in the market after this case was solved. This wrap is said to be very helpful for many of the dog’s some do even do face failures but then it’s also the kind and quality of wrap you get. Do not compromise on your dog’s health and give him the best. Not all dogs’ having an allergy to the static electricity this anxiety is observed in rare species but it depends again on the way you treat the dog.

You need to be just be very careful with the weather updates as in if rains then just keep the wrap along with you so that as you know it is felling weird you can always put the wrap on him. Know it is not just the rain but also at times painting makes them feel anxiety which is not good for them. We normally take these things as DOG’S DANCE! This is very incorrect! We enjoy their pain in many different ways not knowing that they are in pain so it would be better like how Jim did, consult a reputed trainer and have your dog analyzed properly so that you know how to go about.

Roadmap to Choose the Right Dog Breed

Labels:

Choose the Right Dog Breeds

If you have decided to get a dog at last so you should realize that there are at least over 400 breeds that exist. To choose one of them or should I re-phrase it as, having a fancy of dog wouldn't be hard to do. But what is actually tough is to have the right breed. Know when we talk about the right breed, there are many questions that arise for having a perfect dog who would suit your life style and would adjust with environment too. This does bring up some of the biggest questions and it also is like a forecast of your life with the dog you opt for. There are some questions that you are supposed to think about.

Firstly:
Do you want an adult dog or pup?
The question is not of having a adult or pup, the question is can you handle a adult dog? If you are a new dog owner then the best thing for you would be that you should go for a pup. Because of you land up saying “the dog ain’t good enough” that would be incorrect. It all depends on you that you would you bring it up. If you don’t know you can also start up with a small breed.

Secondly:
Do you want a lap dog or a guard Dog?
Know what do you want a lap dog or a guard dog. Lap dog cannot perform the job of a guard dog and a guard dog cannot perform the duties of a guard dog. So if you need a guard dog then having a lap one would be a bad choice. You need to spend on something that you need or you’ll end up selling things you actually need. Normally there are specific breeds for both. You need to consult a good breeder or kennel for having one.

Thirdly:
Do you want a male or female?
The biggest question of them all what do you need a male or a female? It is very important to know the sex you require in dogs because a female has a lot difference than the male ones. A female needs to be given more attention because it bears little pups. You need to keep in mind at least a gap of two years should be given. A male is to be trained on the basis of either you require a lap or guard dog. His or her allergies are also something that should be kept in mind.

CONSULTATION:
The first thing that you need to do is consult a professional dog breeder or kennel. You need to make sure he is a reputed dog breeder. By reputed dog breeder we mean someone who a less number of dog breeds and does not go for mass production. He should be well versed about all the breeds he has and the ones can be produced. Above all the most important thing is that he should be registered with the “kennel club”. He should consult him as to what is your per annum income and the kind of environment you live in. This would help him comprehend your situation and give you a right suggestion. Or you can always also go to some of cordial who has had an experience of handling a dog to suggest you.

PUREBRED OR MIX BREED:
You need to know think about the breed you want. If you want a purebred which normally people prefer over the mix breed. For instance if you go for a “German Shepherd” you will experience its color, coat and looks would similar to the rest of the breed. The only problem is that the purebred has more genetic deformities and allergies than the mix breed. They shed more and have a higher a tendency of allergies than the mix breeds. It needs to be given more attention.

On the contrary mix breed are very difficult to judge for their expressions as to what are they trying to express. Normally if both the parents are a mix breed then the dog has more qualities to show. As they possess qualities of all breeds which is unanimous. They shed very less but at times hard to train because you cannot try a particular breed’s remedy on it. You may have to derive the way out. A mix breed wouldn’y has many things in common with its parents. They are purely individuals.

There temperament is something that needs to be discussed. If you notice normally purebred are more rigid. If they are timid then they are timid and if they are wild then they are wild. But this is not the case with mix breed, they are good at behavior and respond well to strangers but it all depends on the way it’s trained. The mix are rather said to have more mannerism and if taught can be good guard dogs too.

FINAL DECISION:
As you are following are road map, you are know at the final step on which the future years depends. If you plan to take your pup or dog to exhibition like conformation shows, obedience trials, field trials, herding tests, or other American Kennel Club sponsored events, you must get a purebred. But you have desire to have a companion who could just stay at home and be a good house dog then a mix breed would be the best example for you.

If you have no aspirations to win a blue ribbon then you can always to move for a mix breed. But then you need to take good care of it and train them well. They are easier to handle and low at purchase. The only reason I would suggest you to get a mix breed is that it’s got a cool temperament and enjoys Strangers Company. They are friendly loving and love kids too. Know it entirely depends on you as to what kinds of dog you want to get.

Rare and Unusual Dog Breeds

Dogs are in today’s world not taken as a pet any more. They are more often taken as man’s best friend. The saying has gained a lot of importance and it’s not only the words they even exist. Dogs back then were kept more under surveillance and suspect and were not treated the way they should be treated.  But now the scenario is a lot more different. There are many dogs that are more like stars for man. Some are small breeds which are very expensive and some are the big breeds which are very famous. Dogs have now earned their way by all their loyalty and honesty. Hence there are some dogs that are still unusual to the eye. They seem to be known but still have lesser popularity than the rest. It is always good to discuss the ones that are “known to be unknown”.

Click the breed name below for details on each dog breed and health and disease information on that particular breed of dogs.

CHINEESE CRESTED:
This breed is available in both with and without hair. They are known for having a variety of looks. A breed of it is called “Powder-puff” which is hairless. This breed is fine boned and only grows up to 11 to 13inches when it becomes completely mature. Some dogs of this breed have hair and some just have hair on its toes. It’s a unique small breed and is very playful and loving. Should be taken under good care and at the same time and also trained properly. They are easy to train but if not trained can be a little difficult to handle. It loves to be with family and is very trustworthy. May be a little shy and reserved with strangers and would take a little time to gel up.

IBIZAN HOUND:
It has a very light skin and pigments on it which makes it look very different. It has an approximate height of 27inches and is naturally breaded for fighting. Days back this breed was used for dog fight games. They are also a good choice to be a guard dog. Jumping high is one of its most important qualities which make it more unique. They are not very easy to train but if trained in a proper manner can be very loyal and would know how to behave with strangers. This breed is family oriented dog and loves to be in a gathering, if left alone can sulk alone to death.

KOMONDOR:
This breed is a huge dog. The dog is covered with large masses of ringlets which hang down to the ground. They are quite hairy and have a coat which looks like a coat of cords. This breed is exceptionally beautifully and the cords that they have can be in different in colors like and cream. Its approximate height when it grows mature can be up to 287 inches and they have maximum weight of 100pounds. The breed loves to play with kids and is very cute. Being a huge breed it is patient and on training well could be the best pup of the all.

PULI:
This breed is said to be a herding dog. In ancient times dogs were used to lead the herd of sheep’s. Imagine the kinds of work were taken from dogs. They grow up to 17 inches in their mature age. It has a shaggy coat which drops down just like the “Komodo-r” but its coat is also available in grey. They are very friendly with kids and you might see some of them at your next door leading the kids to their vans or elsewhere. These pups are very sensitive and if they are dealt with a little anger can be scared of you or wouldn’t respond well.

SCOTTISH DEERHOUND:
When completely mature it is 32 inches and has a course of hair of at least 3 to 4inches which hangs all over the place. The breed is very good with kids and is very expressive with face which makes it a unique dog. It has got excellent expression and in can easily make out whether the dog is sad or happy. It has a very gentle way to go about with strangers and is very faithful.

SHAR-PIE:
This dog is more famous for being called a “Wrinkle Dog”. The reason why it is called a wrinkle dog is because it has wrinkle and needs proper brushing once a week and a wash too. The breed is said to be an honest breed and hardworking too. It does not express much but when gets erratic can get enough wild. It needs to be trained before so that the owner may not face trouble. It is playful and asks for attention.

There exist many types of breeds and they all have different qualities. If you have opted to purchase to breed then it would be essential for you to have a complete research about the dog you buy. Remember! It is never the dog you buy it depends on the way you treat it. I would suggest you not to but an unusual breed because it might cost of you if you cannot control it. It is better to start with small breed and simultaneously keeps gaining experience for the breed that you would want to have.  Once you have a complete knowledge about the dog then you can always move on to buy your breed but do keep in mind that the previous dog u had should be given equal preference and should not feel left out. There is no point in buying a pup and losing one. Whatever your choice is the dog has his own choice and can also feel. Maximum dogs are very sensitive so you need to be careful about this too. Having said all of this I would like to sum up on just one thought that the ones who are “known to be unknown” have their own space and share of fame and the ones who are known also have the same. But are job is to provide them the best things if we make a decision of having them.

Types of Dogs

There exist many types of dog’s breeds but by the American kennel 146 are only recognized. By types we mean the kind of nature they possess and what are their usual habits. The board has made sub-groups to these types so that when one study he would get to know about the variety of dogs that exist in the world.  The following are the sub-groups to the types of dogs.

TERRIERS:
This breed is famous to be known for fighting dogs and racing games. They are very enthusiastic and vigilant. But their habit of being too aggressive is not too good. At times loose temper and get really furious. The breeders are now working to get there temper low as much as they can. They are to be trained at initial stages, the group includes Staffordshire terrier, border terriers, bull terriers, fox terriers, and jack Russell terriers. They are known to be fearless and assertive and can be a best choice for a guard dog.

NON-SPORTING:
The non sporting dogs are mostly different in size and stature from the rest of the dogs. This is what makes them different from the ones who are too fast. This breed has been breaded a lot for having companion dogs. Companion dogs are required for many of the dog owners and especially for those who are new to this field. In houses where toddlers and children are they this playful breed would be just the right choice. This breed poodles chow , Dalmatian, American Eskimo, French bulldog, and Boston terrier. All these pups are very friendly and loving. They possess a very playful nature which is the core personality.

TOYS:

This you can decide after researching the different dog breeds out there as well as talking to other dog owners that you know.

Dogs are something that everyone wants to have and the term “The Perfect Dog” has a lot of significance in everyone’s life but the only thing is to have a proper choice to where to buy or sell it from. Some of the points of getting a good dog are as under.

* Try and get your dog from a reputable dog breeder
* The dog you choose out of the litter
* The kind of training of the dog the previous owner has done since it was a pup with all the etiquettes and mannerisms.

The above points are going to give you and your dog a good and healthy lifestyle. It’s a good thing to do to meet some dog breeders when you are about to buy a dog, not only that but you should observe as to how the maintenance of the dogs have been taken care off. You would have an idea as to how to start in the initial process of owning a dog.

Now during this entire exercise that you go through, there are some key questions you are supposed to ask yourself which would be immensely beneficial for you.

Q 1) What size of dog breed do you want?
Size does matter as to how bigger breed you can afford and can it fit in your house or not. Need to measure up your yard some big breed like greyhound or docile do fit in easily?

Q2) Dog shedding is the question for all?
Some dogs like Dalmatians they shed a lot due to which it would be difficult to keep their maintenance gets a little difficult. Most of the dogs that seem to be very cute are at times difficult handle.

Q3) Do you think dogs are supposed to be trained?
It is very essential for a dog to be trained as much as possible as to he should know how to behave and should have the etiquettes and mannerisms to behave around.

Q4) Will your dog be living with other animals?
If you have some other pets like a cat or bird then your house might turn a up to be a “Tom and Jerry” episode which again is not good.

Q5) The maintenance issue?
Would you be able to afford a dog as in the expenses? And if not then it would be useless for you to go out of budget and make the dog suffer too.
These five main questions are definitely going to be useful for you as to your initial steps of buying a dog or not. It’s just getting fascinated with the choice but also to know as to how you can take care of it.

Q6)   Is your dog friendly enough with your kids or peers?

Q7) Will the energy level of a dog should match the energy level of the dog keeper too?
It is essential for both of their energy to match because if the energy of a dog doesn’t match with the keeper it would be difficult for him to prolong the relation.

Q8) Will you be able to afford a dog?
If you are not ready to afford a dog then it wouldn’t be a good idea to get one but if you can then its ok. A dog genuinely has a lot of expenses that one has to bear keeping in mind his health and care too

Why dogs bark ?

Dog is said to be man’s best friend but at time this friendship does cost a lot. This article talks all about dog barking and ways to pet him. Normally what most of the dogs do is they start barking on the owner just to grasp attention. Know when on attention not given the barking increases and later on it becomes a habit till he’s been loved by you putting your hand on him. You may be somewhere in your mind thinking that you have made him quite but on the dog’s part is something else. He takes it as an appreciation and that’s where it all begins.

Know there are some ways to handle this problem in such a manner that the dog wouldn’t fell hurt and also you would do your job of training him in such a way that he would learn his etiquettes and mannerism of being around people or at home. Know the first time he barks at you your not suppose to give him a glance at once or he will understand will demand for that glance over and over again. Then later just turn back look around making him learning to listen to your orders.

Know keep practicing this remedy with him a couple of times so that he may not only a well trained dog but also a well educated dog and he would be educated by you. Normally what happens is that while your dog is barking the worst scenario is that you can not hear anything and the barking becomes constant. Most of the dog keepers have left the dogs in the dog rehab or station where the dog can live because the relation with the older one gets useless due to the bad behavior and we just think that either the dog is sick or he’s lost it. It all depends on the way we train him and bring him up. The more we respond on his barking the more he would bark to grasp attention and that is the root to the entire problem.

Those people who are new dog keepers are the one’s who face the most trouble because when a normal new dog keeper gets a small pup for himself he usually expects him to bark which he would find more often cute. Something’s that we mostly find entertaining in the beginning later it becomes difficult for us to prolong the same fun because too much of anything is bad. The dog barking that gets very often ruins the entire relation and then a keeper degradedly goes on responding to the dog is also not good. Where as this article was about responding too much to your dog is not good but it is good to keep it to a limit and rather ignoring at times would work as to not make him realize he is being appreciated by the keeper. So less response on react only when is required just to have a trained dog.

Dog Disease - Immunization for your Dog

It is a dog owner’s duty to take care of his dog’s health and safety. Know if we look into the dog’s immunity system so now a days in the new generation mostly the dog owners are not very much aware as to how much does the immunity system matters and what is immunization. This article talks about your dog getting immunized and why is immunity so good for all dog breeds.

Now coming forward as to how the immunity system works. Mostly little dogs catch up with sort of antibodies and canine diseases due to which the immunity system goes low. It is all about an injection that is injected to keep his immunity system going on as more as possible. The reason why this injection is used is because to make the immunity system stronger so when ever these antibodies or disease enter the body the dogs would be immunized on such an extent that it could fight with those germs and keep healthy.

If you ever think that would this injection make your dog more lethargic and slower the answer is NO. Fundamentally the function of this injection is to insert some antibodies that are good for dog’s body so that the antibodies that are affecting your health it would recognize it and never let your dog be harmed by it. Usually these antibodies are not strong enough to play havoc in the dog’s body it only does the job of recognizing the antibodies and killing or fighting against them.

Most of the dogs do face reactions but only on temporary basis. They might get a little slow or their face might get swelled. At the same time some digs even start to vomit, hair shed and run through fever. All this reaction is expected after the immunity shots given to the dog. It is only for 48hours that the dog would face such troubles and later they are mostly fine. This mostly have these sorts of problems with the small pups. In these cases as soon as possible you should take your dog and to the veteran and let him know about all his sufferings and the problems he’s going through. The dog would be given an antihistamine (e.g., Benadryl) to control the reactions.

Although immunization has its own benefits but like every single thing in the world that has a benefit it also has a demerit to itself too and same is the case with immunization. By getting your dog immune it becomes easier for the dog keeper to take care of his dog as much as he can. The only 48hours side effect takes place in most of the young dogs due to new antibodies taking place so when something new enters it does take some time to comprehend a dogs body system and recognize the antibodies, fighting against them and keep your dog healthy and safe. The safety your dog’s health is all that matters and for that only every dog keeper strives to achieve. So it wouldn’t be wrong enough to say that the immunity system does play a major role in dog’s health. Immunization is necessary to protect your dog against many dog diseases that might otherwise affect your dog.

Is The Dog like Human ?

The biggest mistake which we humans, generally make as dog owners, we want our dogs to be as obedient as humans and so we treat them like humans, but the thing, which we forgot while we are doing such acts is that, dogs are not humans, they are canines and have a very different thought process. This is the thing, which differentiates humans with other species in pack.

Societies; there must be a specific order, from the leader on down to the last follower. So every one has its own place and the leaders are the main strength of the pack. The followers always need leaders to guide them to show them the right way. A dog has an instinct to constantly test the being above them and an instinct to be tested by the being below them. And these instincts tell them if there is no one stronger in charge of their life and the life of the rest of their pack is at stake and this small instincts keeps the pack secure and happy.

Dogs generally need rules which they need to follow and it is only humans who make rules for them and train them to follow these rules and limits to what they are allowed to do. So when a dog lives with humans then the human becomes its pack, for the relationship to succeed the human must become the dogs pack leader.

A huge mistake is committed when humans only give love to the dog and the other attributes are overlooked. For a dog regular affection without rules and limits goes against every thing in a dogs instincts. While we love our dog and they enjoy being loved, it does not satisfy the animal and they will never be well balanced, stable minded, secure and happy.

We must remember that affection and love is a human trait not the dogs. We cannot make dog satisfied and well-balanced just by giving them love they require more than this, for example  you need to give them proper emotional stability in order to achieve which you want from your dog.

Human Emotions and Dogs

How does a dog attach itself with human emotions, do we ever think about that, there are some studies that suggest, that dogs are more humanly complex than we assume, these studies are not accurate.  Studies conducted by Friederike Range and his colleagues at the university of Vienna in Austria and Paul Morris of the university of Portsmouth, indicate that dogs have a complex range of different emotions, like simple and unpleasant behavior, such as jealousy and pride giving them a sense of fairness, that has never been discovered before.

No one will mix their own emotions in with a scientific study; we humans would love to believe that, their little balls of fur are humans, but they are not and never will be. There is a study that shows, damage when owners, confuse the dominance and emotions, this is true that a dog shows his reaction when another dog gets food, they show a reaction when any new puppy arrives and when they get ignored, but the question to ask here is WHY.

We should need to understand, when dogs show emotions, they are not as complex as we humans, dogs can only feel the emotions, that coming from humans and react on those emotions. They feel them as an energy radiating from our bodies. The dog has the capability to feel and they know if a human is sad, happy, Angry, confident, passive, anxious, hyper, or meek etc.. However, what we need to understand, that the dog does not read negative energy, which comes from humans, in the true meaning of the emotions, they only can read this human emotion as a weakness and react on it accordingly, this is how dogs feel naturally. When we humans live with dogs, apart of their we become pack. The entire pack cooperates under a single leader. Lines are clearly defined and rules are set because a dog communicates his displeasure with growling and eventually biting, all other humans MUST be higher up in the order than the dog. This is very important to understand, that we humans are the ones, who should make a decision, not the dogs and that is the only way to that you make a good and positive relationship with your dog.
